Michael Dell tweets news of Bitcoin server deal
Chief executive takes to Twitter to reveal his firm has taken a sizable order using the crypto-currency
Dell has received a sizable server order paid for in Bitcoins, chief executive Michael Dell said in a tweet over the weekend.
The vendor has bagged a PowerEdge server order for more than 85 bitcoins, equivalent to $50,000, the eponymous leader revealed.
The deal comes three weeks after Dell became the largest e-commerce business to begin accepting payments based on the controversial crypto-currency.
The facility, which took Dell two weeks to set up in partnership with payment processing outfit Coinbase, is initially only available to US consumer and small business customers visiting Dell.com.
Dell is walks customers through how to pay using Bitcoin in three steps on its website. As an extra sweetener, customers can get up to $150 off Alienware products purchased with Bitcoin on deals before 14 August.
