NTT Com Security restructures UK for services shove

Firm formerly known as Integralis says UK rejig will see it hire 23 more consultants

NTT Com Security says its UK restructure is about growth rather than cost-cutting as it sharpens its services focus.

Talking to CRN, NTT Com Security chief executive Simon Church emphasised that the security integrator is adding 23 more UK consultants as it "tunes" the traditional vendor-oriented part of its business.

Church was able to offer more detail than he could yesterday, when news broke that three top NTT Com Security executives – including UK boss Neal Lillywhite – are leaving the firm.

Market chatter that NTT Com Security – which recently rebranded from Integralis – is slashing UK staff is wide of the mark, Church said.

"There is some tuning and realignment of the business, but ultimately it's about growth," he said.

"We are looking to hire 23 consultants – that's a 20 per cent growth in the UK headcount. That is to serve the increase we are seeing in consulting and managed services."

Relationships with third-party vendors such as Check Point and F5 are generating less and less of NTT Com Security's UK revenue. However, Church said these continue to generate a large percentage of turnover and that the firm is "tuning" its vendor relationships business so it is more closely aligned with driving consulting and managed services growth.

"We are driving the business to where the opportunity is – in services – which has been our business plan for the last three years and we are now seeing the next stage of that growth," said Church (pictured).

Church denied market chatter that NTT Com Security is having to cut headcount because it had lost some large contracts to competitors.

"That's absolutely not the case. Ironically, we have won a couple of huge contracts in the UK in the past couple of weeks. These are multimillion-pound contracts with significant organisations in the UK," he said.

Church added that he will run the UK alongside his wider group responsibilities while a new leader is sought.

"In time we will likely have a replacement," he said. "But I want to make sure we hire the right type of person for this role and my direct alignment with the UK business will allow me and the team to do this."
