SDN player Tallac launches European push with UK digs

Former HP Networking exec Clive Hallam to lead transatlantic foray

Software-defined networking (SDN) player Tallac Networks is launching into the European market with the opening of a regional headquarters in the UK.

The California-based vendor, which specialises in cloud-managed WLAN technology, has opened doors on a European hub in Kettering, with former HP Networking executive Clive Hallam appointed to lead the charge across the Atlantic. The new managing director for Europe spent 10 years at ProCurve/HP Networking, and latterly served as sales director of Calyx Managed Services, a role he departed in January.

"The team that founded Tallac includes some of the best networking innovators in the industry," said Hallam. "I am very excited to join Tallac and build the business in the UK, and then in the rest of Europe. This is a mature market in terms of advanced communications technology adoption, so the fit is just right. We have already signed up key channel partners and are actively recruiting more."

Tallac was founded in 2012 and recently launched its flagship Software-Defined Mobility platform, which aims to enable the development of enterprise applications for various vertical markets. The vendor's president, Bill Johnson, claimed his firm could help managed services providers (MSP) boost their profitability.

"Our model is to empower MSPs to design and deploy campus network virtualisation solutions and enable partners to innovate unlimited SDN application possibilities," he said. "Our objective is to increase MSPs' margins and improve application development efficiency for MSP partners focused on cloud management, orchestration and managed IT services."
