Exertis launches Nordic push with CapTech acquisition

Bullish distribution group to use Swedish addition as beachhead for regional expansion

Exertis has today announced plans to expand its European reach through the acquisition of CapTech Distribution AB, which claims Sweden's largest independent technology distribution business.

The deal, for an undisclosed sum, is expected to be completed during September 2014 and is subject to competition clearance from the Swedish Competition Authority.

Niall Ennis, group managing group managing director of Exertis, said: "The acquisition of CapTech represents an excellent strategic fit and is another significant step forward for Exertis following the rebranding of the business last year."

CapTech, founded in 1996, is one of Sweden's top technology distribution businesses, and works in areas such as IT hardware and audiovisual systems.
Daniel Johnsson, managing director of CapTech said: "We are very much looking forward to working with Exertis to further expand our service offering to customers and suppliers and believe our partnership with Exertis will enable the next phase of growth for our business, including an expansion of the business in the wider Nordic/Scandinavian region."

The Exertis name came into being last year as the new moniker for the DCC SerCom group of distribution companies. Its biggest brand in the UK is SMB distribution heavyweight Exertis Micro-P, which last year acquired security and comms VAD Cohort Technology, which was recently renamed Exertis VAD Solutions.

Last year Exertis UK and Ireland leader Gerry O'Keeffe claimed the group wanted to improve on its current standing as Europe's fifth-largest technology distributor and break into the top three.
