Fast-growing VAR R-Com wants to double in size

Manchester-based reseller aiming to increase headcount to 50 after moving into new digs

VAR R-Com is looking to double its headcount inside 14 months after being decorated as one of the UK's fastest-growing tech firms.

The Manchester-based IT infrastructure specialist placed 34th in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100 after growing sales sixfold from £1.2m in 2010 to £7.1m in 2013 and is gunning for sales this year of £13m to £15m.

Having recently acquired new offices in Stockport, VMware partner R-Com is aiming to double the size of its current 25-strong team over the next 12 to 14 months, according to sales director Ayaz Rathore.

Rathore (pictured) said R-Com had marked itself out from the crowd by focusing on virtualisation.

"We are gearing ourselves up for the major cloud vendors and offering our customers cloud-based solutions," he added.

"We already have the VMware footprint, as well as Citrix and Microsoft but now everything is moving over to the cloud so we want to align ourselves with the key vendors to make sure we can position the right solution to our customers," Rathore said.

R-Com's recent growth has been fuelled partly by its decision to partner with vendors who are not household names but had a great reputation within the IT industry and were looking for "a safe pair of hands" in the UK, Rathore added.

The firm, whose clients include Manchester Metropolitan University and Toys ‘R' Us, aims to reach 2015 sales of £18m to £20m.
