Micro-P and Gem names dropped for Exertis
Nearly a year after the Exertis prefix was introduced, distributors are combined under the same brand name for the first time
The Micro-P and Gem company names are to disappear and instead the newly combined company will trade as Exertis UK.
As a result the two business will create four product ‘pillars' for Exertis UK: IT and Mobile managed from the Basingstoke and Altham offices, Home - managed from Harlow, and Supplies - managed from Elland.
Combined, the Exertis business employes over 1,170 staff in six locations across the UK, and the firm recently added to its European footprint with the acquisition of CapTech in Sweden.
It revealed a number of infrastructure changes have been made to the business, including the integration of IT and financial systems and the ‘realignment of warehouses' - creating 650,000 sq ft of capacity across the UK.
Originally aired back in October last year, the Exertis prefix was added to all companies in the DCC SerCom stable, including Micro-P, Gem, Advent and MSE.
The company claims the formation of the Exertis brand followed an extensive review that highlighted company success in building ‘solid reputations for excellence'.
Gerry O'Keeffe, managing director Exertis UK and Ireland, said: "Our new brand is an important step in establishing Exertis as the UK's leading technology distributor enabling our customers to gain increased access to more products and services, and broadening potential routes to market for all our vendor partners.
Combined, we can deliver enhanced opportunities to drive our customers' and vendors' businesses forward."
He added: "Our scale and knowledge, along with our experience across the technology sector, enables us to further innovate and deliver market leading services for our partners. As ever, we are committed to exceeding expectations through customer service and delivering a pro-active service to our customers and vendors. The new brand platform is reflective of our strength in the market and our expansion ambitions as we enter an exciting phase of growth."
