Drinkers pour into Britain's first tablet-based iPub
Customers use tablets to order drinks and snacks at the Wesbourne pub in Swansea
iPads have replaced bar staff at a pub in South Wales, which claims to be the UK's first "iPub".
The Wesbourne pub in Swansea lets punters order their drinks from iPads fixed to the tables and then help themselves to pints from self-service taps, according to WalesOnline.
Customers can order a special card at the bar or via tabletop tablets and then place the card under a sensor, which allows them to pour their pint. The staff then check how much the customers are drinking using a central system.
Landlord Mark Lingwood - who has spent £20,000 on the iPub - said the new system has cut queues.
Lingwood said: "It's something I have looked at for a long time; it's a great, fun idea. Why queue at the bar when you can use our table top iPads?"
The pub has Sagres and Amstel beers on self-service taps but punters can order any drink to be delivered to the table using the tablets.
