Lee Driscoll pops up at Zycko
Pan-European distie appoints ex-Azlan, SDG, and CCD man as sales boss
Former Azlan, SDG and Computacenter man Lee Driscoll has popped up at Zycko, where he has taken on a post heading up the pan-European distributor's sales operations.
Driscoll (pictured) exited his previous role at Azlan over the summer, having joined the Tech Data-owned player via its acquisition of SDG, where he served as sales chief since 2006. Before that he was one of the founding directors of Computacenter Distribution, and worked for the firm for more than a decade. He joins Gloucestershire-based Zycko as group sales director.
"Zycko has a great future ahead due to its line-up of innovative vendors, coupled with its desire and energy to win and succeed," said Driscoll. "With a team of specialist resources, Zycko is perfectly placed to enable our channel partners to meet their growth aspirations. Zycko has come a long way in the past decade and I am delighted to be a part of the team that will deliver our next phase of growth."
Chief executive David Galton-Fenzi added: "Zycko engaged in an exhaustive selection process over several months to find someone with the right skills, experience and relationships for the role. Lee's proven career in channel sales and wealth of knowledge in distribution was a perfect fit for Zycko."
In addition to its UK HQ, Zycko has two offices apiece in Germany and Sweden, as well as facilities in Norway, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Hungary, Poland, and Malta. Founded just before the millennium, its linecard includes an array of networking, storage, and virtualisation vendors, including Brocade, Meru, Riverbed, Hitachi Data Systems, Tintri, and Huawei.
It has recently undergone something of a management overhaul, with long-time sales leader Galton-Fenzi stepping into the chief executive hotseat, Rob Clark moving to a role as technical director, and David Hopper joining as chief operations officer.
"Zycko has identified an opportunity in the market for a specialist European distributor with the financial stability and global reach to invest in and enable the channel to deliver next-generation technologies," said Galton-Fenzi. "It is an exciting time for us; now in our 14th year and more ambitious than ever. Lee joining allows us to accelerate our plans for growth."
