Softcat leads way for IT sector in Investec Mid-market 100

Eight tech companies feature in the list of the 100 fastest-growing firms with an annual turnover of over £10m

Softcat has jumped 69 places to finish 28th on the Investec Mid-Market 100, which is a ranking of the 100 fastest-growing private companies in the UK.

The reseller achieved the second-highest turnover and the top EBITDA of the 100 companies listed, based on last year's financial figures.

Softcat's chief executive Martin Hellawell said: "Sixty-nine places is a significant increase, reflecting our flourishing growth especially in recent years – revenues have grown by over 300 per cent since 2010.

"We're delighted to have achieved the top EBITDA and second-highest turnover of the companies listed. We plan to continue our growth across all our business sectors – we've come a long way in a short time but we're not taking our foot off the accelerator just yet," he added.

The list, complied in conjunction with DueDil, ranks active UK-registered companies according to their four-year average compound growth rate, with a minimum annual turnover of £10m.

Also featuring high up the table was Kettering-based Total Computer Networks Limited who came in 43rd.

Kieran O'Connor, sales director at Total Computer Networks, told CRN: "It was a bit out of the blue for us when we got the call but we are really pleased with finishing 43rd and we all collectively feel it is very good recognition for us."

Eight technology and software firms featured in the list overall, with others including UKFast, which finished 57th.
