SDN firm Tallac secures first UK public sector win
Tallac Networks wins three-year contract with Milton Keynes Council
Tallac Networks has been awarded its first UK public sector contract win - a three-year-framework contract to supply Milton Keynes Council with software-defined wireless services.
The news of the contract win comes just months after the software-defined networking (SDN) specialist launched its first operations in Europe.
Clive Hallam, newly appointed managing director of Tallac in Europe said the price his firm offered was central to the cvictory.
"When the tender went out, there was a point scoring system and Tallac did very well in terms of cost - we were 50 per cent lower than much of the competition," he said.
"The win is vital for us and should pave the way for more public-sector wins," Hallam said.
The contract was won by Tallac in conjunction with Comms Solve, which has been supplying Milton Keynes Council with voice, LAN and other hardware and services for more than five years.
Sultan Khan, senior strategic ICT development officer for Milton Keynes said: "We considered most major wireless vendors and Tallac won on value for money, as well as its advanced SDN technology which will enable the flexibility we need to develop a raft of potential applications, and with its advanced reporting functions, we can scale our networks as required."
The Tallac team was originally founded by enterprise networking veterans from HP and Cisco in 2012.
