Sysec pens WHSmith security deal
Security VAR wins contract to supply high street staple with point-of-sale protection in over 1,300 stores
Sysec has won a contract with WHSmith to act as its security service provider and protect point-of-sale terminals in more than 1,300 retail stores, nationwide and internationally.
The deal will see Sysec deploy technologies from the McAfee Security Connected portfolio.
Cris Pikes, chief executive of Sysec, said: "The multiplicity of payment methods when combined with the frequency and speed of transactions experienced by WHSmith makes the company's point-of-sale network a truly business-critical infrastructure. Sysec is delighted to be chosen by WHSmith as their partner to deploy and manage their McAfee CEE Suite."
Sysec, a Theale-based firm, saw its revenue rise 28 per cent to £7.2m in the 12 months to 31 March 2014, which it attributed to its strategy of focusing on core vendors such as McAfee.
Mark Robbins, head of procurement at WHSmith, said: "The security of our transactional infrastructure is vital to WHSmith. The majority of our customers have trains or planes to catch and need to make their purchases quickly. It is vital that we can guarantee the integrity of our point-of-sale infrastructure and protect it from cyberthreats."
