Computacenter opens Indian network operations hub

London-listed IT supplier builds on 10-year relationship with Indian provider Microland

Computacenter has chosen Bangalore as the destination for its first network operations centre (NOC) outside its two largest markets in the UK and Germany.

The London-listed IT reseller and service provider is opening a new facility in the Indian city in partnership with Indian IT infrastructure service provider Microland, with which it has collaborated on managed network services projects for Computacenter customers for more than 10 years.

This means Computacenter can now provide managed network, voice and security services from five NOCs, the other four being in Hatfield and Nottingham in the UK and Kerpen and Erfurt in Germany.

The Bangalore facility can be used by customers for all standardised processes and tools that are available globally with immediate effect, Computacenter said. Event management and first-level support will be provided from Bangalore, with second- and third-level support continuing to be provided from Europe.

Computacenter's tie-up with Microland is tried and tested, it stressed, with the two organisations having collaborated on managed network services projects for international brands such as a large German car manufacturer.

"With the GNOC [global network operations centre] model, we are expanding our existing managed network structures and ensuring the international networking of our service team," said Simon Oecken, group director of managed services at Computacenter.

"The location in Bangalore enables us to significantly expand our service capacities. Customers can now benefit from a growing web of GNOCs which can offer the proximity and service to satisfy their needs."
