Secure messaging vendor aims to stand 'shoulder to shoulder' with UK partners with new Canary Wharf digs

Canada-based security firm Cirius has launched in the UK with a new London office, as it hopes to gain a foothold in the European market.

The company, which provides a cloud platform for secure messaging, sending large files and data-leak protection, is hoping to recruit 15 new staff in 2015 to its new office in Canary Wharf, which will quadruple its workforce there.

Cirius has been operating in the UK via OEM partners AppRiver, Inty and Cobweb Solutions for 18 months, but it is now hoping to recruit seven reseller partners by the end of 2015, according to Cameron Burke, senior vice president of business development at Cirius.

Burke said being close to Cirius's UK customers was critical to the company's decision to move into a new London office.

"You don't want to be the company that thinks it can service an organisation from thousands of miles away so deciding to launch an office in the UK was pretty key for us," he said.

"It was really important to have a team to be on side and play a shoulder-to-shoulder role with our partners."

Burke also commented that the new London digs would hopefully mark further expansion across the rest of mainland Europe, and said the company is expecting to bring on new partners in Denmark, Norway, Switzerland and Holland in the coming months.

Cirius, which launched in 2006, operates almost exclusively via the channel, with 95 per cent of its business going through its partners, according to Burke.

Global spending on the information security market in which Cirius operates will reach $71.1bn (£45.32bn) in 2014, according to a recent report by Gartner.
