Norbain snaps up fellow distie CMS plc
Acquisition for an undisclosed sum makes 'perfect sense' according to Norbain's parent firm Newbury
Physical security distributor Norbain has announced it has acquired distie CMS plc for an undisclosed sum.
CMS will continue to operate from its four locations in Farnborough, London, Northampton and Manchester, and its senior management team will still be responsible for the running of the business, according to a statement from Norbain.
CMS was founded in 1993 and claims to be one of the UK's largest distributors of IT infrastructure and cable management products.
Anne-Marie Salisbury, marketing director of CMS, said: "Norbain has a proven track record in the distribution market, and is the perfect home for the business. Our portfolio is a great accompaniment to Norbain's extensive range of security products and services, and we now look forward to further developing and growing the CMS business."
Norbain, which specialises in CCTV and IP video, was rescued from administration by Newbury Investments in 2012.
Nigel Palmer, chief executive of Newbury, said the acquisition made "perfect sense" to Norbain.
"With a view to providing the complete portfolio of products to installers and integrators, it made perfect sense to add a connectivity offering," he commented.
"Along with Detection Supplies, a fire solutions provider, this purchase allows Norbain to present a comprehensive solution encompassing connectivity, fire and security to our customers."
