Capita lures Logicalis duo in bid to beef up IBM unit
Outsourcing giant looks to build its technology solutions division
Capita's IT Enterprise Services unit has snapped up two ex-Logicalis IBM specialists in a bid to bolster its Technology Solutions division.
Ex-Logicalis men Robert Clare and Robert Davis started work in Capita's IBM unit last month, according to their LinkedIn pages.
Clare joined Logicalis in 2010 and in his most recent role as IBM sales manager was tasked with IBM business development. In his new role as IBM alliance manager, he will drive the IBM-Capita relationship, he said on LinkedIn.
Davis had been at Logicalis for almost eight years, but will now take on the role of business development director at Capita. On his LinkedIn page he said he will now take charge of growing the outsourcer's IBM relationship.
Capita did not directly confirm the duo's arrival but admitted it has been boosting staff in its Technology Services division.
"Capita IT Enterprise Services has made a number of new appointments, including technical architects and sales managers, within its Technology Solutions division as part of a drive to broaden the range of solutions – including from IBM – that it can offer our clients," it said.
Capita's Technology Solutions division sits alongside five other units – Applications, Cloud and Enterprise Services; Network Services; End-user Services; Managed IT Services; and Public Sector and Health – under Capita's IT Enterprise Services umbrella.
The IT Enterprise Services segment of Capita is one of the largest divisions within the outsourcer's overall business and serves nearly 4,000 customers across the public and private sector in the UK.
The business consists of a number of acquisitions that have happened since 2008, including network firm Updata Infrastructure, security-focused Network Technology Solutions and Northgate Technology Solutions, which it claims bolstered its managed services skills.
