PCMS grabs bargain deal with Poundworld

Service provider set to implement new IT system at cut price retailer

Retail specialist PCMS has bagged a 10-month deal with bargain retailer Poundworld to install a range of new IT systems to improve its overall customer experience.

During phase one of the project, Poundworld – which is aiming to double its number of UK stores over the next five years - will roll out PCMS’ Vision BeanStore PoS system, which it claims will enable faster transactions, better stock control and reduced training requirements.

Phase two will see Poundworld introduce SAP and Business Objects as central management tools to support more automation, faster processes and reporting across the estate.

Chris Edwards, co-founder and managing directoro of Poundworld, said: “As our business expands geographically, we also want to expand our technological capability and create a platform to help us grow and achieve greater economies of scale.

"In PCMS, we have found a partner with passion and innate understanding of retail, which is demonstrated through its people and Tier 1 customer base. We’re very excited about evolving our IT offer and seeing the benefits in terms of customer experience and estate management.”

Richard Goodall, group sales and marketing director, at PCMS added: “Poundworld is undergoing phenomenal growth, with further increases planned over the coming years. We’re delighted to be working with the company to ensure that its IT provision keeps pace and enables the organisation to have greater visibility and control centrally over its growing store network.”
