Capita snaps up S3

Data storage specialist grabbed by IT services giant for an unknown sum

Integrator Solid State Solutions (S3) has been swallowed up by Capita IT Enterprise Services as it looks to build data storage skills.

The Basingstoke-based firm was set up in 1988 as a value added integrator of data storage and storage management systems, and has evolved to specialise in bespoke data storage solutions, with space in a Tier 3+ datacentre in Farnborough.

S3 employs 30 staff and boasts over 300 private and public sector customers, including a number of blue chip clients.

Under the deal, for an undisclosed sum, the S3 business will sit within Capita IT Enterprise Services’ technology solutions division.

Peter Hands, executive director of Capita IT Enterprise Services, said in a statement: “Data storage is becoming increasingly important for our clients – they want a solution which not only offers guaranteed security but also flexibility, accessibility and value.

“S3 prides itself on its ability to understand a business quickly and identify key operational requirements. Drawing on its extensive industry experience and technical expertise, it can recommend and then implement best of breed storage solutions from a portfolio of established and trusted vendors. It is a welcome addition to our business.”
