Lancs hotel group migrates from cloud with JMC IT

Michelin-starred Northcote moves IT platform from cloud back to on-premise in five-year system and support deal

Salford's JMC IT has won a five-year contract with Northcote Leisure Group which, in part, involves moving some of its IT back on premise.

Andrew Burgess (pictured), managing director of JMC IT, said the VAR is providing comprehensive managed services and around-the-clock support as well as moving its IT platform from cloud back to on premise.

"The scalable on-premise network platform that we have delivered provides Northcote with the flexibility and autonomy it was looking for to support evolving business and redevelopment needs," Burgess explained in a statement.

Northcote Leisure Group runs the Michelin-starred Northcote hotel, restaurant and headquarters as well as a conference centre and five pubs in Lancashire's Ribble Valley near Blackburn.

Sources have confirmed a steady trickle of contracts and customers have tried cloud computing in recent years but decided to move at least some of their systems back to on-premise for a range of reasons.

Julie Leigh, finance director at Northcote, said its changes are about meeting customer expectations of first-class service.

"With the group's ambitious plans, it's crucial we have a flexible IT solution in place that connects us to our suppliers and customers and allows us to realise these aims," she said.

She went on to praise JMC IT's "reliability and proactive approach", which would enable Northcote to focus on providing the best possible hospitality as part of a "multimillion-pound" development of its services.

According to Burgess, the system has already proved its worth during a major power cut. "JMC prevented any potential system loss or issues, allowing business to carry on as usual once power returned," according to the press statement.
