Alpha Gen feels the NetBeat with Hexis signing

Distributor says latest vendor signing fits in with its 2015 focus on compliance

Alpha Generation Distribution has stressed that compliance will be a key theme behind all its vendor signings this year as it unveiled Hexis Cyber Solutions as its latest ally.

The distributor, which formed in 2013, has been appointed to carry Hexis' NetBeat network access control (NAC) and network monitoring solutions in the UK.

Alpha Gen sales director Chris Walsh said NetBeat NAC and NetBeat MON represent an add-on sale opportunity for resellers already selling Alpha Gen's existing compliance-leaning offering based on vendors Secunia and AlienVault.

"We are trying to build a product portfolio with a specific compliance driver," Walsh said.

NAC may have failed to live up to lofty expectations set last decade but the technology is enjoying a second wind as firms grapple with staff turning up to work with their own devices, said Walsh.

"In the public sector and local government there is a driver to have this technology so they can control not only what comes onto the network but also what it does when it is on the network," he said. "That market has matured."

Alpha Gen will not have access to Hexis' HawkEye cybersecurity solution, which is being punted by Hexis directly in conjunction with resellers. The NetBeat product line is more of a typical two-tier channel product, Walsh said.

"We are not looking to go out to the masses and dump this into catalogue companies, but instead find partners that understand the benefits of why customers need to have a NAC solution from a compliance point of view," he explained.
