Blue Chip hails eighth year of consecutive annual growth

Turnover up nine per cent annually to £22m thanks to its cloud services business

VAR Blue Chip has said a push into services has helped it to record its eighth consecutive year of annual turnover growth.

The firm saw its turnover rise nine per cent annually to £22m for its FY14, which runs to the end of September.

Anthony Green, Blue Chip's sales and marketing director, told CRN that the firm's cloud and managed support services have been driving this growth.

"We have worked very hard on our business to drive it into a services-led business, rather than a traditional reseller and we have continued to be successful at that and grow the amount of technical people who are at the business," he said.

Green said the firm is looking to grow its service-delivery-management platform in the coming year.

Richard Cook, Blue Chip's managing director, said: "We have worked hard in recent years to take the business forward, investing in infrastructure for a new generation of IT services and expanding our business services further.

"By default this has led to the formalisation of business processes to provide consistency and efficiency at an even higher level, with both customers and staff clearly understanding the above-industry expectations and standards of our award-winning service and delivery."

The firm has invested £1m in datacentre capacity and infrastructure at Vodafone's tier-three datacentres in Leeds and Uxbridge. Blue Chip has also undergone an expansion of its Leeds operation and now has more than 175 employees after hiring 20 staff this year.

The Poole-based reseller has recently signed a deal with luxury motor yacht manufacturer Sunseeker International.
