Dimension Data enlisting 300 new datacentre troops

Network integrator hopes to quadruple its datacentre business by 2018

Dimension Data announced today that it will hire 300 datacentre experts over the next 18 months as part of its plans to become a $4bn (£2.65bn) datacentre business by 2018.

The IT services vendor, founded in 1983, currently values its datacentre business at $1bn, but it wants to quadruple this and is recruiting to accommodate this growth.

The company also announced its intention to make "datacentre-focused acquisitions".

Steve Joubert, group executive of Dimension Data's datacentre business unit, said: "Demand for our next-generation datacentre skills and services sees Dimension Data growing faster than the market and we need great people to help us continue this growth.

"As a provider of solutions and services, not an equipment manufacturer, we are dependent on the quality and skill of great people to help us deliver the best service to our clients," he added.

Dimension Data will be hiring in Singapore, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, West and East Africa, the UAE, the UK, Germany and the US.

Joubert also said: "With recognition and development programmes for our teams around the world that help them grow and excel and the multinational nature and culture of the company, Dimension Data offers excellent growth opportunities for top performers."
