Snow bother for Nimans and Samsung WLAN roadshow

Distie and vendor duo brave winter conditions at Manchester Museum of Science and Industry to inform VARs of benefits of wireless LAN technology

Nimans and Samsung joined forces recently to organise a roadshow in Manchester to encourage VARs to jump on the wireless LAN bandwagon.

Held in the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry (see picture), executives from both firms informed attendees who had braved snow storms to get there, that the £250m UK WLAN sector is experiencing growth rates greater than the PBX arena. A second event was held at Samsung’s head office in Chertsey.

Presentations from senior Samsung and Nimans staff were combined with "stay and play" sessions that included demonstrations of how the technology integrates with all major telephone system brands, such as Unify, Panasonic, Samsung, NEC and iQ PBX – as well as door entry and access control platforms from 2N.

During the many presentations, resellers discovered how to identify, quote and maximise market opportunities and learned how voice and presence can be relayed via WLAN from a telephone system to a mobile device.

Tom Maxwell, head of dealer sales at Nimans, said: “The sheer volume of enquiries and opportunities since we launched this [Samsung WLAN] product has gone through the roof. The events reflected how WLAN is one of the most innovative and exciting parts of our business in years. Many resellers are already joining us on the journey.”
