SCC bags two-year Universal Credit deal

Privately held services player celebrates winning its first secure hosting contract with the DWP

SCC is celebrating the win of its first secure hosting contract with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Already an existing customer of SCC, the DWP administers the state pension, and a range of working age, disability and ill health benefits to more than 22 million people.

Under the terms of the deal, the DWP will maintain intelligence, development and operational support of the application and operating system suit, while SCC will provide and support the infrastructure as a G-Cloud partner, using its Sentinal platform.

Eventually, the plan is for SCC to integrate the Universal Credit service over the Public Services Network (PSN) with other core DWP applications.

Martin Parker, head of central government for SCC, said: “This is a great example of a British company working to fully support the government’s digital services strategy.

“It is also testament to the continued and growing success of Sentinel by SCC as a secure cloud platform, and we are delighted that DWP has chosen to work with us in the rollout of this key government system.”
