Computacenter rocks up on £25m TfL deal

Reseller giant joined by Fujitsu and others on IT megadeal

Computacenter has won a place on a lucrative IT framework with Transport for London (TfL) – its second win with the organisation in a year.

The ICT Installation and Associated Services deal will be worth £25m over its lifetime, and is split into five lots, one of which was awarded to Computacenter.

The reseller giant was awarded a spot on the framework mainly due to its service and technical offering – which accounted for 80 per cent of the award criteria – while commercial considerations made up the remaining fraction, according to a recently published contract-award notice.

Fujitsu Services, Bailey Teswaine, Redsixty and Installation Technology were the other successful bidders for the contract.

The quintet will provide TfL with a range of kit including cable installation, datacentre kit, servers, switches, storage and additional services.

Computacenter was one of four suppliers which won a separate deal with TfL last summer.

TechMarketView chairman Richard Holway said the firm is cashing in on TfL's new approach to IT.

"The deal is part of TfL's strategic move to a SIAM [service integration and management] model," he said on the firm's blog. "Last month it announced that Atos would become its new service desk provider, replacing CSC, which had a larger contract in place covering desktop services too.

"The deal is also another example of where the tower approach to IT is benefitting suppliers such as Computacenter – who might have previously been considered to be too small to deliver services under a single, much larger contract."
