VIP toughens up with Durabook signing

Distributor adds new line of drop, shock and spill-proof mobile computers designed for verticals such as military

Distributor VIP Computers is aiming to help its reseller partners grab a slice of the lucrative and growing rugged notebook market with latest vendor signing Durabook.

Targeted at industry sectors including the military and healthcare, Durabook's mobile computers and tablets have drop, shock and spill-proof features designed to enable users to work in harsh environments.

They also feature as optional 3G global mobile internet (WWAN), which VIP claimed makes it possible to work "seamlessly from pretty much anywhere".

The rugged notebook market alone was worth $275m (£186m) in Q3 and is growing at 10 per cent year on year, VIP said.

"The rugged market is very much on the increase and VIP have seen this growth and secured the distribution rights for Durabook," claimed VIP business manager Martin Carter.

"This represents a fantastic opportunity for resellers to capitalise on the growing demand throughout 2015 and beyond. Durabook is one of the key players in the industry and we will be launching with their full range of devices and accessories."
