Chess makes second acquisition in a day

Telecoms announces Compwise Systems buy after it grabbed a slice of Calyx this morning

Chess Telecom has made its second acquisition in 24 hours in the form of Compwise Systems.

This morning, Calyx Managed Services investor MXC Capital announced it had sold off the company's Carrier Services arm to Chess for £1.8m as part of a deal which also saw its Break Fix arm go to Daisy.

This afternoon, Chess unveiled it has also snapped up Compwise, an Enfield-based systems provider.

The Compwise takeover will add three new members of staff to Chess and will boost its annual turnover by £400,000. The business will be combined into Chess' Partner Services team based in its Borehamwood offices.

The deal will help Chess become an "end-to-end" solutions provider, it said, adding that Compwise joins more than 90 other companies it has snapped up to date.
