Node4 snaps up Reconnix to beef up cloud offering

Node4 completes second acquisition in the last year for an undisclosed amount

Cloud and colocation firm Node4 has acquired managed services specialist Reconnix in a move it claims will boost its cloud solutions portfolio.

Newark-based Reconnix was founded in 2000 and specialises in open source technology services.

The move follows Node4's acquisition of cloud infrastructure player LETN Solutions last summer.

The acquisition, for an undisclosed amount, will see Reconnix's team of 30 technical experts and engineers stay on at the Newark office, but they will now work for the Node4 team.

Reconnix founder and chief executive Steve Nice will take on the role as head of Node4's Open Source business.

Commenting on the acquisition, Nice said: "There are clear synergies in the aims and ambitions of both companies and I believe the acquisition will bring further opportunities for both our employees and our customers.

"Node4 is a company that shares our core business values of delivering industry-leading technology, excellent customer service and expert advice."

Node4 has reassured customers that following the acquisition, all services which Reconnix provides will continue, and these customers will now be able to take advantage of Node4's cloud offerings, as well as its range of network connectivity and telephony and communications packages.

Andrew Gilbert, managing director of Node4, said the move will bolster his firm's cloud offering.

"This latest acquisition for Node4 will further strengthen our expertise in three key areas that will be critical to our future success: application development, operations management and infrastructure management.

"Reconnix brings a very impressive depth of open source expertise which allows us to enhance our cloud offering and continue to ensure our customers benefit from the very best IT infrastructure tailored to their individual needs."
