VMware and Palo Alto cosy up on security
Duo extend partnership to address mobile security issues
VMware and Palo Alto have extended their partnership to encompass mobile security in a move they claim will give customers protection from increasingly sophisticated cyberthreats.
As part of the partnership expansion, the pair have integrated their enterprise security and mobile-management technologies which they claim will keep customers protected at all times.
"Users no longer stop working once they leave the office, and they need secure access to business information at any time, from anywhere, and from any device," the firms said in a joint announcement.
The new offering will see Palo Alto's Next-Generation Firewall, Wildfire and GlobalProtect products combined with VMware's Airwatch and will offer malware detection, network protection and VPN capability to customers. It is available from today, with extra capabilities expected to be added later in the year.
Lee Klarich, senior vice president of product management at Palo Alto Networks, said:
"Integrating our... technologies with the AirWatch platform addresses the concerns of both parties, giving users a positive mobile experience while existing security policies are enforced."
