Nutanix helps Air Ambulance Service fly high
Vendor installs appliance at charity's datacentre with three years' support
Nutanix has today announced it has chosen the Air Ambulance Service as the latest non-profit organisation to benefit from its Web-Scale Wish Datacentre Makeover Project.
The Air Ambulance Service was selected as a runner-up from hundreds of applications worldwide as part of the Web-scale Wish initiative.
The prize saw it receive a fully licensed Nutanix hyper-converged infrastructure appliance which was installed by Nutanix technicians at the charity's datacentre with three years of technical support.
Founded in 2005, the Air Ambulance Service provides local emergency services with two regional air ambulances across Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire, and the Children's Air Ambulance - for flying critically ill children between hospitals.
Michelle Coombs, IT consultant for the Air Ambulance Service, said: "It couldn't have happened at a better time. Our existing servers and storage were well past their sell-by date and we were struggling to cope with demand from a growing user base spread across four sites, including the two airports we fly from, plus 30 charity shops."
Enforce Technology worked alongside the Nutanix team to provide consultation and integration of the new hyper-converged platform.
Colin Lock, sales and marketing manager at Enforce Technology, said: "We're absolutely delighted that the essential work of the Air Ambulance Service has been recognised in this way. We're also more than happy to help the charity with its migration to both make the most of this opportunity and make their Web-Scale Wish come true."
