Planet Hippo expends energy on Cisco badge
Acquisitive hosting firm becomes authorised Cisco Energy Management Suite partner
Hosting firm Planet Hippo is on the hunt for more acquisitions after becoming authorised to sell and support Cisco's energy management as a service offering.
The firm, part of acquisitive group Network Selector, has bagged Cisco Energy Management Suite authorised technology provider status.
This means it can sell, deploy and support Cisco's energy management as a service offering, which is designed to enable organisations to monitor and manage IT energy consumption.
Darren Lavender, managing director at Planet Hippo, said: "Energy management is no longer just a big company technology and Planet Hippo provides a cost-effective platform to deliver real savings to organisations regardless of size.
"With no hardware or software rollouts to worry about, the energy management as a service can be quickly and easily deployed without requiring high levels of technical expertise."
Planet Hippo was one of three outfits Oswestry-based Network Selector acquired last autumn after it was created by serial channel entrepreneur Mike Harris.
Harris said he is hunting further acquisitions for web hosting specialist Planet Hippo and mobile telecoms outfit Ocean Telecom.
"For Planet Hippo, we are looking to buy up the hosting bases of web design companies," he explained.
Cisco says its Energy Management Suite is designed to help customers cut energy costs across a distributed office by 35 per cent.
