AMD boss blurts out Windows 10 release date

Lisa Su lets release details slip during results conference call

Windows 10 will make its market debut in about three months, the chief executive of AMD let slip on a conference call.

Speaking to discuss her firm's first-quarter results, the chip-maker's boss Lisa Su seemingly inadvertently spilled the beans on when the new iteration of Microsoft's operating system might hit the shelves.

Discussing her firm's outlook for the rest of the year, she said: "What we also are factoring in is... the Windows 10 launch at the end of July, we are watching... the impact of that on the back-to-school season, and expect that it might have a bit of a delay to the normal back-to-school season inventory build-up."

Windows 10 was first unveiled a year ago, and is currently in public beta testing. It will be the successor to Windows 8, released in 2012, and the updated Windows 8.1, which debuted the following year.
