Krome polishes growth ambitions

Dell and Palo Alto partner hires new sales manager amid expansion drive

VAR Krome Technologies is in expansion mode, appointing a sales manager and three other staff this month as it chases 25 per cent revenue growth this year.

Talking to CRN, newly installed sales manager Malcolm Field said the goal is to take on another seven sales staff this year, alongside expanding its professional services team.

"We're aiming for 25 per cent growth this year and for the next five years and I'm looking to expand the sales team to achieve that growth," said Field (pictured), who has previously worked at Avnet and CA.

Field said Surrey-based Dell and Palo Alto partner Krome, which now has 80 staff, marks itself out from the pack by having a three-to-one ratio of technical consultants to sales staff.

Revenues for the past 12 months have dipped fractionally from their peak of £12m, but profitability has risen, Field said, as the firm concentrated less on shifting tin and more on professional services.

"We want to maintain the ratio of having [at least] two technical services heads per sales head," Field said.

"We are very much about working with customers to identify their areas of pain. When I looked at the marketplace, I saw this is a company that is driven by learning what customers want from value-added services, rather than going out and presenting a package to customers."
