Ex-Logicalis chief Tom Kelly rocks up at Agilitas

Tom Kelly appointed as chairman at inventory management firm Agilitas following MBO

Channel bigwig and former Logicalis boss Tom Kelly has rocked up as the new chairman of channel inventory management firm Agilitas IT Solutions.

The Nottingham-based firm provides channel partners with spare-part inventories to make sure they can look after their clients, along with various services such as technical training and product repair.

In June 2014, Agilitas chief executive Shaun Lynn led an MBO along with NVM Private Equity, from the previous backers Acal Enterprise Solutions. Kelly (pictured) also invested in the MBO and took an undisclosed stake in the company.

"The reason I joined Agilitas, and I took part in the MBO, is I genuinely believe it's one of the new types of businesses that will actually come out of the cloud," he said.

"Regardless of whether it's a Cisco product or an IBM product, the ability to forecast or second guess the range and breadth of what spares you should be holding is and will become increasingly difficult and increasingly expensive and that is where I see the role of someone such as Agilitas."

Channel veteran Kelly spent 10 years as managing director of Logicalis and since he left in 2013, has held roles at cloud-management firm Ospero and on public sector IT panels and boards.

Speaking of the appointment, Agilitas' Lynn said: "We have very ambitious growth plans and to have someone who has been there and done it to the extent Tom has is great news for both Agilitas and our customers.
