Logicalis bolsters BI with Trovus buy

Logicalis claims acquisition will boost its consulting offering in a multibillion-dollar market

Logicalis has acquired business intelligence (BI) firm Trovus for an undisclosed sum, in a move it claims will strengthen its consulting proposition.

Founded in 2008, Trovus provides analytics dashboard solutions to give companies insights from data, and counts among its customers Sage, the Financial Times and Microsoft.

Speaking of the move, Arnaud Spirlet, head of European markets at Logicalis, said:

"This acquisition strengthens Logicalis' position as a leading provider of consulting and solution services in a market that, according to ABI Research, could be worth $114bn (£74.88bn) globally by 2018."

Following the deal, Ed Charvet, managing director of Trovus, will become director of information insights at Logicalis.

Charvet said: "Trovus and Logicalis have partnered successfully for some time, giving clients the benefits of both highly focused BI consultancy to define the best solution, and the ability to then scale organisation-wide using Logicalis' deep technical resources and global reach. The fit is a great one and positions Logicalis perfectly between the pure consultancy firms and the specialist vendors."

Analyst TechMarketView's research director Kate Hanaghan said the acquisition proves the firm's UK arm is not slowing down in the absence of a full-time boss.

"The move is interesting for two reasons. Firstly, it demonstrates that Logicalis is serious about deepening its expertise in solution areas where there is strong market interest and an inclination to invest," she said.

"Secondly, the purchase indicates that despite not having a formal UK managing director at the moment (the business is currently being run by its head of Europe, Arnaud Spirlet, following the departure of Mark Starkey), moves are still being taken to evolve the business."
