Foursys opens new Bury St Edmunds digs
Fast-growing VAR launches recruitment push and moves to new offices to accommodate recent growth
Network security VAR Foursys has moved to a new office in Bury St Edmunds to accommodate a recruitment push that will see 15 new starters join the firm.
Foursys was previously located in Cambridge, but has moved to Bury St Edmunds to a business unit of 5,000 sq ft.
Speaking to CRN, James Miller (pictured left), Foursys' managing director, said the move was to facilitate the recent growth of the business that has been driven by the firm's focus on a select few vendors and a boost from its managed services business.
"Our fundamental focus is IT security," he said. "We don't get involved in backup software or CRM systems; we are purely focused on IT security and that has been the biggest secret to our success, and having that core set of vendors we work with."
Miller also said Foursys has recently enjoyed its best-ever quarter, with it securing revenues of £4.7m for the three months to 31 March.
In November 2013, Foursys completed an MBO – led by Miller and sales and operations director Jez Turner – and with a loan from NatWest bank, from two majority shareholders who retired. Miller said this move has given the company some much-needed freedom.
"We were at the company for 10 years, and it was very successful in its own right. But there were many things we didn't have the freedom to do previously, but now we have the remit for.
"One of those things was to take on complementary vendors – just one or two – where we believe in the technology that the vendor is offering and if it's suitable to our customer base," he said.
Foursys is partnered with Sophos and Websense and has recently taken on three new security vendors with Secunia, Secure Envoy and Rapid7.
The 15 new roles at Foursys will be split between sales and technical employees and will bring the team headcount to 45.
