Lenovo crowns new UK boss
David McQuarrie takes reins as Mark Godin moves into European role
Lenovo has unveiled a new UK boss in the form of seasoned company executive David McQuarrie, as incumbent Marc Godin moves up to a European role.
McQuarrie (pictured) is taking the reins of the UK and Ireland business on top of his current duties as vice president and general manager of Lenovo's North region in EMEA (Nordics, Benelux and Baltics).
Godin, who is moving up to take the newly created role of vice president of supply chain EMEA, had run UK and Ireland for three years.
On Godin's watch, Lenovo rose to a clear second place in the UK PC market, Lenovo claimed, growing share from 11.9 per cent two years ago to today's 17.4 per cent. On the consumer side, Lenovo's UK PC market share has almost doubled to 15.2 per cent during the same period, thrusting the China-headquartered vendor from fifth to second place, it added.
Before heading up the North region, McQuarrie led Lenovo's SMB and consumer business across western Europe, meaning he is well acquainted with the UK market. He joined Lenovo in 2008 following a decade-long spell at Dell.
