HP unveils new logo as it talks up split

New Hewlett Packard Enterprise branding represents sustainability and growth, Whitman claims

HP chief executive Meg Whitman has revealed the thinking behind Hewlett Packard Enterprise's new logo as she talks up the impending split.

At HP Discover in Las Vegas, Whitman confirmed the split was happening on 1 November – the start of the company's fiscal year – and said the new logo for Hewlett Packard Enterprise will be a good start for the newly separate firm.

Once the division is complete, HP Inc will focus on personal systems and printing while Hewlett Packard Enterprise will be home to its services, software, servers, storage, networking, converged systems, and Helion cloud platform.

Whitman said the logo for the latter (pictured) represents everything the new company should be about.

"It is a powerful expression of who we are," she said. "There are two things we really wanted to get across [in the design]. First, the simplicity of our logo is symbolic. That is what Hewlett Packard Enterprise is about: making it simple for our customers and partners to do business with us [and] being precise with engineering and innovation.

"Second, is the colour and shape. There is not a lot of green in our industry. The colour green signals growth and opportunity and my personal favourite – sustainability. The rectangle symbolises the window of opportunity for what we can build together.

"When all is said and done, we want to represent the rich legacy of HP and the exciting future ahead of us and you."
