Oriium becomes first UK distie for Imation Nexsan

Distributor signs up enterprise storage player Imation Nexsan

Oriium has become the first UK distributor for storage player Imation Nexsan Technologies as the vendor breaks away from a single-tier channel model.

Headquartered in Derby, Imation Nexsan focuses on the enterprise space and provides storage products that include storage arrays.

Speaking to CRN, Oriium founder Chris Kiaie said he was attracted to Imation Nexsan's customer base.

"For us they represent a very solid and reliable brand that is very well suited to large data sizes, because of the reliability of their product. They also represent a very impressive customer base globally that spans blue-chip firms and FTSE 100 companies," he said.

"[By] combining their technology with software-defined solutions such as CommVault, it's an ideal fit for us."

Previously Oriium was partnered with US-based Ethernet storage vendor Coraid, but the company ran aground earlier this year after running out of VC cash.

"We found a pretty good fit in our relationship with Coraid, but unfortunately while the technology was excellent, they had a number of challenges, one of which was funding.

"Nexsan to us represents all that was good with Coraid, but they are a stronger market player," Kiaie said.

Under the agreement with the storage vendor, Oriium will now be able to offer its partners pre-sales assistance, support and managed services around the technology.
