Softcat among top places to work in Europe

Tech companies such as Cisco, Google and Microsoft dominate the list of best places to work in Europe in 2015

Reseller Softcat has come in eighth place in the top 50 best large workplaces in Europe in a competition run by the European Commission.

The rankings aim to seek out the top places to work among SMEs, large and multinational organisations. Companies are judged based on two staff surveys – one evaluating their trust in their employer and the other focusing on company culture.

Technology companies are well represented on every list, with SME tech firms that have between 50 and 500 employees accounting for half of its corresponding list.

Within the top large companies to work for in Europe were telecommunications company Three, plus ROFF, Softcat, Vector, Rackspace and Axis Communications.

NetApp, EMC, Microsoft, SAS Institute, Cisco, and eBay were among the best multinational companies to work for in Europe, according to the rankings.

Softcat was recently crowned the second-best workplace in the UK. The reseller's managing director Colin Brown said both accolades were an honour.

"We strive to foster creativity and a sense of solidarity in each of our UK workplaces, with the result that the satisfaction of our staff spreads to our customers, for whom we have a 98 per cent satisfaction rate," he said.

"The trust between our teams and their managers is extremely high, and I have personally heard several staff members refer to Softcat as being 'like a family'. This is the best thing I could hope to hear."
