Zscaler email customers rescued by WeCloud - source
CRN understands Swedish cloud outfit has agreed to take on customers after Zscaler pulled out of the UK email market
Email customers of cloud security firm Zscaler may have been rescued by Swedish outfit WeCloud, CRN understands.
Last week, sources told CRN that the US firm was exiting the email market in the UK, although the company declined to comment on the claims.
After searching for third parties to take on its UK email customers, Zscaler has reached an agreement with Swedish cloud outfit WeCloud, according to sources close to events.
Neither Zscaler nor WeCloud commented but a source who wished to remain anonymous told CRN about the deal.
"All existing Zscaler email customers are being migrated to WeCloud's Advanced SMTP platform," said the source.
"[Zscaler] discussed it with other filtering vendors, none of which wanted to pick it up as the volume of email customers is so low globally, with a high percentage in Europe. WeCloud is a Swedish small player which was willing to pick up the deal at the pricing they offered."
WeCloud was founded in 2010 and is based in Malmö, Sweden. The company develops and distributes security solutions such as cloud anti-virus, email security, email archive and email encryption.
WeCloud operates through a network of channel partners and lists a number of other vendors – including Zscaler – as technology partners.
On its website, WeCloud names Zscaler as a partner on web security, while on the email side, it offers customers its own solutions, as well as one developed with Ciruis.
CRN understands the deal to work with Zscaler was agreed only last week, days after the latter is alleged to have announced its departure from the email market in the UK.
Zscaler declined to comment, and in a statement, its chief executive Rikard Zetterberg said:
"WeCloud develops and distributes cutting-edge solutions for email security, anti-spam, anti-virus and network monitoring in the cloud. The WeCloud team possesses Scandinavia's longest experience of cloud-based security solutions. WeCloud was founded in 2010 and has, through organic growth, achieved excellent profitability.
"I have no comments on the rumours about Zscaler."
