HP crowns new Enterprise boss as Veghte leaves

Antonio Neri takes on the Enterprise Group role permanently after babysitting while Veghte prepares for HP split

HP has confirmed that Bill Veghte, executive vice president of its Enterprise Group, is leaving the firm later in the summer.

Rumours to that effect spread through the industry in May, but now HP has confirmed it and added he is set to "pursue a new opportunity".

Although retaining his title as Enterprise Group chief, HP said that since last October, Veghte (pictured) has actually been leading the separation efforts for what will become Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

During that time, the Enterprise Group was led by Antonio Neri, who will now officially take over the role. Neri's team will remain unchanged, HP confirmed.

Veghte did not disclose the nature of the new opportunity he has found, but paid tribute to his team at HP.

"The decision to leave a company and people you are passionate about is never an easy one," he said. "It has been a privilege working with Meg and a great leadership team as we transform HP to help customers on their journey to the new style of IT."

HP chief executive Meg Whitman said: "From the moment he arrived at HP, Bill has made a huge difference. He brings energy, insight, and leadership to everything he does. I am grateful for all he did to help me lead HP through the turnaround and into the separation. I know Bill will continue to enjoy great success in the years to come."

Veghte joined HP in 2010 as general manager for HP Software after a nine-year stint at Microsoft. Following that, he held the roles of chief strategy officer and chief operating officer at HP before taking on its Enterprise Group in the summer of 2013.
