ITS reassures Konek-T customers with acquisition
UK-based MSP plucks assets of Konek-T out of administration, saving rural communities across South Wales from uncertainty over broadband services future
Broadband and managed services specialist ITS Technology Group (ITS) has grabbed the assets of rival broadband firm Konek-T for an undisclosed sum.
Konek-T appointed administrator DDJ Insolvency last month, leaving its customers unsure as to whether they would still have a broadband service going forward.
As a result of the sale, which includes broadband networks as well as contracts to provide services to rural communities across South Wales, the assets will be incorporated into the ITS brand with immediate effect.
The deal is the fourth acquisition by ambitious ITS in the past year, another of which – Xwavia – was also based in Wales. Other firms on its shopping list included infrastructure specialists CityServe and Networks by Wireless.
Roy Shelton, group chief executive at ITS, said: "ITS delivers connectivity to digitally deprived areas across the UK, and the addition of this network certainly adds value to this proposition.
"ITS already has a footprint in Llancarfan, so these assets will extend our reach in this area. As a result, ITS will be able to offer access to more business and residential customers that have been struggling with inadequate broadband speeds, as well as allowing us to focus on wholesale access to our partners."
The firm said it is now planning a complete upgrade of the network, and once that is complete it will be offering further services including VoIP and IT support services to businesses in the area across a shared network.
