Maindec romps to Scottish sole-supplier victory

IT services firm wins £8m deal to supply maintenance to Scotland's public sector over three years

IT service provider Maindec Computer Solutions has been awarded the role of sole supplier of maintenance to Scotland's public sector.

Maindec will deliver its services across local government, education, national government and arm's-length bodies during the three-year agreement, which is worth an estimated £8m and had six other companies alongside Maindec in the running.

Services offered include, but are not limited to, server hardware maintenance, identification of failure reasons, warranty management, and the installation of replacement hardware and components.

The Scottish Government's website states that those using the services have the opportunity to save up to 40 per cent, "depending on the individual customer requirements".

Iain Maclean, Maindec's regional manager in Scotland, said: "Maindec fully appreciates the ever increasing budgetary challenges facing the Scottish public sector during this time of austerity, and this framework award will ensure that public bodies are able to access our high quality services for their critical IT systems at an affordable cost."

"We have enjoyed an extremely positive engagement with the Scottish Government over many years.

"I would especially like to thank the team at SPCD for putting in place a procurement strategy which enables SMEs like Maindec to compete on a real level playing field with the global giants and heavyweights of the IT industry." He added.
