UK dodges Azure price spike

Prices reportedly set to jump 13 per cent on 1 August in Eurozone

The UK will not be impacted by a raft of price rises Microsoft is reportedly planning on Azure products in the Eurozone from next month.

As CRN sister site Channelnomics.eu reported, Microsoft IT pro Aidan Finn published a series of excerpts from Microsoft emails on his blog, which appear to outline details of the upcoming price hikes on Azure kit in the Eurozone.

"Effective August 1, 2015, local prices for Azure and Azure Marketplace in euros will increase by 13 per cent to more closely align with prices in most markets," the email reads.

The UK will not be affected by the price spike, Microsoft confirmed in a statement to CRN.

"We always evaluate current market conditions, the increased product value for a customer, customer deployment scenarios and other factors when determining pricing for our products and services," it said.

"Microsoft is committed to sharing pricing and licensing updates with our partners to ensure they and our customers are prepared and able to evaluate their options. Customers should speak with a Microsoft partner to learn more."

Microsoft is not the only vendor to up its European prices recently - back in January, HP upped its UK prices by 6.5 per cent to mitigate currency issues. Others such as Lenovo, EMC, and Avaya have all accepted the ievitability of cost increases. Vendors such as NetApp and Cisco, though, have all denied that similar price increases will not be on the way on their respective EMEA price lists.

Microsoft declined to comment when contacted by Channelnomics Europe.
