Tech Data Mobile dials up new UK boss

Matt Child claims he was impressed by Tech Data Mobile's services as a past customer of distributor

The new managing director of Tech Data Mobile UK and Ireland has described his new employer as an industry "well-kept secret".

Former Phones 4U executive Matt Child said he was waiting for the right opportunity to return to the mobile industry following a stint as COO of Leeds United Football Club before taking the job at the UK's largest distributor.

He previously spent two-and-a-half years at Phones 4U, latterly as director of trading, and before that worked for seven years in the mobile distribution sector.

Child replaces Peter Hubbard, who Tech Data said recently made the decision to leave the business.

"Having had several opportunities to return to mobile it was important for me to join the right business," Child said.

"As a past customer of Tech Data Mobile I was always impressed with the professional and diligent way they supported us, but it always felt as though they were a well-kept secret...
