ANS hails mega Flexpod deal

Manchester VAR helps Guy's and St Thomas' trust go paperless

ANS has delivered what it claims could be the largest Flexpod deployment in the UK public sector after winning a deal with a London hospital.

The Manchester reseller has been appointed by Essentia, the non-clinical services arm of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust to help it become more efficient by going paperless.

In order to achieve its aims, the NHS trust set aside a £10m pot of cash, some of which has gone on the ANS deal.

The reseller installed Flexpod technology - which is the integrated infrastructure offering from Cisco, NetApp and VMware - at the trust in a bid to help it go paperless.

As part of the solution, ANS installed 130 Cisco UCS blades, 2,048 CPUs, 50 TB of memory and 12 NetApp controllers with more than two petabytes of storage across three datacentres.

It is the biggest Flexpod ANS has ever delivered.

ANS claims to have sold more than £20m worth of Flexpods in just the first five months of this year.

Its chief executive Paul Sweeney said: "We are hugely excited to be delivering and managing what will be our largest Flexpod to date. It will allow Essentia to deliver rapid and agile IT for its customers.

"The trust has reinforced its reputation as a spearhead institution for health services and clinical research and this investment provides it with the technology that it needs to continue this legacy."
