Capita gobbles up IBM VAR
Scottish firm Barrachd focuses on analytics tech
Capita has snapped up IBM partner Barrachd, its second reseller buy in as many months.
The VAR, which has 40 staff, has bases in Edinburgh and London and specialises in IBM analytics technology. The firm was set up in 2007 and its name is Gaelic for "more", which it claims is its company motto.
Capita has gobbled the firm up for an undisclosed amount, and it will join the IT giant's Digital and Software Solutions unit. The business will continue to be led by its current director team of Grant Smith, Clark Wilson and Robbie Crawford.
In May, Capita swooped on HP reseller Pervasive Networks, making the Barrachd buy its second in as many months.
Capita's chief executive, Andy Parker, said the Barrachd acquisition forms part of its plans to get more clued up on analytics technology.
"Our clients in both the private and public sector are increasingly looking at how they can benefit from analytics technology, both to enhance their customer service but also to explore new markets and opportunities for growth," he said.
"Barrachd has a great record of working with companies to detect, gather and monitor business critical information, helping them to identify problems and solve issues.
"We have made a significant investment in our digital expertise in recent years, and we have a proud record of helping organisations adapt and meet the challenges of the digital age. Our investment in Barrachd further outlines our commitment and aspirations to deliver even greater value to our clients and their customers."
