Beta targets bigger slice of NAS market as it adds services
Distributor adds technical support hotline, bespoke model options and next-day swap-outs for NAS products
Beta Distribution is hoping to gain a bigger slice of the sub-$10,000 (£6,400) network-attached storage (NAS) market as it ups its range of services in this field.
David Treadwell, business development manager at Beta, said: "The NAS market in the UK is worth multi-millions and what we are doing is making some plays to take more market share, so we are adding value with our NAS services.
"We recognise it's easy to sell the box with the drive, what we want to do is make sure we are adding value to our VARs and resellers."
Among these new services Beta is offering on its NAS products are advanced next-day swap-outs on any hard drive failures, a technical support hotline for resellers and end users, and bespoke models according to customer demands, Treadwell said.
Simon Atkinson, Beta's business development consultant, said these new services will hopefully benefit the distributor's resellers as well as its NAS vendor partners.
"Synology, QNAP will see a significant benefit in terms of units shipped and opportunities. And hopefully our reseller partners will see increased revenue streams and [be able to] either drive down costs or drive up services," he said.
Beta is making about £1m ($1.56m) a year in the NAS market, but Atkinson said the distributor is looking to 100 per cent year-on-year growth in this market.
"We are pushing with the leading sub-$10,000 brands and we are looking for significant growth. We are also looking for new reseller partners to sign up to Beta," he added.
