David Cameron: Darktrace is 'flying the flag' for the UK

Darktrace CEO Nicole Eagan to accompany David Cameron on his upcoming official visit to Asia

David Cameron (pictured) has hailed nascent British security vendor Darktrace as "flying the flag" for the UK economy.

The prime minister's comments come as Darktrace announced its CEO Nicole Eagan will accompany Cameron on his official upcoming visit to Asia.

"British companies like Darktrace are flying the flag and unlocking the economic potential of the fast-growing economies of South East Asia for the East of England," Cameron said.

"I'm delighted that they have joined me on my first trade mission of this government and I hope that we can work together to create jobs and growth for the UK."

News of the Asian visit comes after Darktrace recently opened up its first Asia-Pacific office in Singapore and started operations in Japan earlier this month.

"We are seeing excellent global demand for Darktrace's enterprise immune system technology, and have enjoyed strong growth in Asia-Pacific in a very short time," Eagan said.

"We are delighted to represent Britain's cybersecurity industry on prime minister David Cameron's trade mission to Asia, and to help promote the UK's leadership in this field."

Darktrace was founded with the backing of former Autonomy boss Mike Lynch, who invested $20m (£12.8m) in the security firm in 2013. Last week the company announced it had bagged $22.5m in Series B funding from equity investor Summit Partners.
