Softcat waves off commercial director
Dave Simpson exits reseller after 20 years
Softcat's commercial director Dave Simpson has left the reseller.
Simpson joined Softcat 20 years ago and worked his way up from being a sales manager, to sales and marketing director and then commercial director - a role he took on at the start of 2006.
CRN understands Simpson's last official day at the company was yesterday, a day before the reseller's year end.
Softcat's chief executive, Martin Hellawell, said he is not aware of where Simpson is heading to next but said his work over the past two decades has been greatly appreciated.
"Dave has done a tremendous job for Softcat for over two decades and we owe him a huge debt of gratitude for his part in the company's success," Hellawell told CRN.
"I'm very sorry to see him go, he's a great bloke and a friend. But he decided after 20 years that it was the time to move on and I fully respect that. I don't know what he will end up doing next but whatever it is I hope it brings Dave every happiness. He more than deserves it."
Hellawell added that Simpson would be welcomed back to Softcat at any time.
"Don't read anything into this as there is absolutely no plan, but I haven't given up hope of seeing him back here in some shape or form in the future," he said.
